Katrynka's Weyr

So I am going to try this again! I need to make a couple cards for Papertreyink challenges, so I might as well post them here, rather than just on flickr.  Right now I am going to go shower and address and mail some Valentine’s Day cards, since I did make them! I will be back later with a card or two for some challenges.

I have not gotten in the groove of posting here. I have made a few cards that I need to photograph and post. There are probably any number of other things that I could write about as well, but heck if I know what they are!

I want to try for a contest in one of the card magazines (can’t recall the title, and am too lazy to get up and go look!!) So I guess I need to get to crafting! Not only would it be fabulous to have something published, I could win $600 of free product. That would be great fun.

As I mention in the title, hubby and I are on vacation. We are staying home at the beginning and end, and spending a few days at the beach in the middle. I am REALLY looking forward to the beach, and the weather looks like it will be great. We also really enjoy just hanging out with no particular agenda or time line.

My next door neighbor took some amazing sunflower photos last week. I uploaded them to snapfish and made a really cool collage poster. I gave him a poster, and he made me a frame for mine! Love the barter system! Here is one of the photos. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

I am trying out a couple free “note” apps for my i-phone before I buy one. I am sick of the simple app that comes with the phone – it keeps acting up. It will randomly start deleting entries on a note (if you are making a shopping list and open the note to write in another item) or it will keep putting items back that you have deleted. (Like when you are taking things off the shopping list while shopping.) It can make things pretty confusing, so I am going to get a “real” app, actually pay money for it! They are $4, so I want to make sure I get one I like.

Maybe I will post a card or two tomorrow?!

I was excited about the whole blogging thing, posting photos of cards I make etc. But life seems to have a way of getting in the way of the things we really want to do!

i am just going to write quickly now so that I can say that I updated, and then I need to get out and work on the garden a bit. The post and string method of holding up the tomatoes is considerably less than optimal, but there is no going back at this point, so I just have to suck it up. And then start saving money for some really cool spiral tomato cages I saw on another person’s blog!!

Last night Jake killed a poor baby bunny… well, at least I assume he killed it. I saw him out back at the end of the yard with his head in the Hosta plants, and then a while later he brought in a poor bunny and dropped it on the kitchen floor. Oh well, not much I can do, just feel bad for the bunny.

Garyth managed to fall down the basement steps again last night. We have the door latched with a space big enough for the cats, but I went down to change over some laundry. I have not been latching the door, cause it is really hard to unlatch when I am at the top with the laundry basket, but now I am going to have to. At least he was not hurt. He gathered himself together and started wandering around trying to eat the cat food. And then growled at me the whole time I was carrying him up the steps.

Okay, now I need to get out to the garden.

Chris is out of town on a business trip. When he is not home, my “schedule” (and I use that term very loosely!) gets all out of whack! Since I do not have to prepare meals for him, I often do not cook at home, or I eat odd things at odd hours, like PB&J at about midnight last night! I had fallen asleep early after being up at 3:45 am to prepare to drop him at the airport. Then I was really hungry when I woke up, and I knew I would not get back to sleep without something to eat.

The weather today was so fabulous. It reminds me of how summer days felt when I was a kid. I would wake up and it would be cool from the night, but sunny. All the birds are out, and the neighborhood is still quiet. I remember the lovely feeling of no responsibilities, knowing I could roller skate or bike ride, or play barbie dolls or dress-ups with my best friend Cheryl. Sometimes I wish I could go back to that time for a visit, like a relaxing vacation!

I was going to try to find a photo to add, but I am getting tired, so this will be a boring post!

Even though I do like my job, Sunday nights are always sort of a bummer. I almost always wish that I had accomplished more – either more fun, or more stuff around the house- usually both!

I did get a few more garden pictures taken. This first one is the same garden as yesterday,  taken 6 weeks after the previous photo.

This is about it for tonight. I am tired, I need to switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer, and Garyth is outside the office door barking for some unknown reason.

I do plan to get a “crafty” post up soon for a challenge on the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. I could win a free stamp set, and I love her stamps!!

Night!

I went to Joann Fabric today to try to find some chain to make necklace extenders for my neighbor. I did not find the size links that I wanted. But I DID find out that the Fiskars cutting implements were 60% off!! So I have acquired so new punches and some backup blades for my cutter. I am always happy when I get things at such a great price. Now I just need to get up in the craft room and create some cards!!

I forgot to take a photo today, but I think we will have a few ripe cherry tomatoes tomorrow! I still have a bit of garden work to do in the am before the sun hits the garden. Then I should be all good till next weekend. Although I do not like “hard labor”, I actually enjoy keeping the garden nice when I have the time to do it in the am before it gets too hot.

I do have a photo from a few weeks back, when the plants were much smaller!

Chris and Mario worked on the toilet in the basement today, so now it works properly. They put some thin plywood on the platform so that it would be smooth. Now it has nice floor tiles surrounding it, and a light over it! Now I just have to make some curtains, and we are good to go… literally!! It is helpful to have another toilet when we have people staying over.

I guess that is all for tonight.

There is more to this blogging than meets the eye! I read a lot of blogs, and they make it look so effortless. Although if I am entirely truthful, some of them seem to struggle with titles too.

I have investigated this inserting photo business, so I am going to give it another whirl!

Wow! I think it worked!!

Okay, now that I have two posts (albeit boring ones!) I guess I will share this blog with some friends. Although be forewarned that things will assuredly change without notice. Most definitely the design will change, I just chose something so that I could get started on this thing.

I tried this “blogging thing” last night, and then the page stopped loading and I thought I had broken it! Turns out it was a Host issue, not me.  Thank heaven! The last thing I need is Chris giving me a hard time that I managed the break the blog in less than 2 hours!

I am quite uncertain what I want this to be,  and am even more uncertain if I will be any good at it. But I really like the idea of being able to post photos of my crafts, especially for challenges. It will also be fun to put up animal and family photos etc.

I have tried a couple times to add a photo, but I keep getting error messages, so I guess I will “consult the expert” and try again later:)
